Guysborough, N.S. – The 2012 Canadian Wine Annual is out and Nova Scotia’s DesBarres Manor Inn is on the list of the best places to eat, drink and stay in Atlantic Canada.
The Canadian Wine Annual is Wine Access Magazine’s guide to Canadian wineries as well as a regional wine and food vacation planner. Lunenburg is one of those places that seems to draw people to it in one way or another. It’s the perfect distance from Halifax for a day trip and there is enough to see and do to easily fill your day. If you’d prefer to extend your visit, it is stocked with quaint bed & breakfasts and hotels with panoramic views of the harbour. The Bluenose golf course is stunningly set into the landscape and the view of the town from the course was once pictured on the $50 bill.

When we arrived at Wild Caraway a morning fog was still burning off the Bay of Fundy across the street. Everything seemed to take on a romantic and mystical aura as we made our way to the house. Salt air mixed in with the smell of dewy garden vegetables and a wood pile adjacent to the parking lot gave off a heady scent – we were on sensory overload before we even made our way into the restaurant.
Upon arrival we were greeted by Sarah Griebel (part owner and general manager), who welcomed us into the century old home that has been fashioned into the Wild Caraway Restaurant & Café. more…
