Red Cap Restaurant

Red Cap Restaurant

Just as Nova Scotia Lighthouses have beckoned to mariners over many years, so too has the Red Cap Restaurant & Motel located in Middle West Pubnico, been a beacon for the many locals and visitors looking for a delicious meal and accommodations.

Chef Amy Scott uses fresh and seasonal ingredients to create the menu and her signature dishes influenced by classic Fresh Cuisine. In addition, we believe in healthy eating and knowing where our food comes from. The Red Cap proudly partners with our local farming and fishing industries by serving fresh local haddock, lobster, beef, chicken, pork and produce.

Start with a glass of local wine or beer, for an appetizer; we recommend the seafood chowder, a local favorite, or the white onion soup. For your main try our delicious Broiled Haddock with a Lobster Sauce, Seafood Lasagna or on the lighter side order the homemade Broccoli & Old Cheddar Quiche or Rappie Pie. Make sure you save room for our homemade steamed cranberry pudding, bread pudding with lemon sauce, or a slice of one of our seasonal pies.

We are open year round to serve you.

Be our Guest and Taste the Difference Freshness Makes.

Hart & Thistle Gastropub and Brewery

Hart & Thistle Gastropub and Brewery

Located in Historic Properties, Hart & Thistle Gastropub and Brewery features great food prepared fresh daily. The term ‘gastropub’ traditionally means a public house, aka a pub, which specializes in high-quality food. The relaxed and comfortable atmosphere lends itself well to the surroundings, architecture, and style of food – “Come for the beer….stay for the service…come back for the food!”

In the warmer weather, you can enjoy the 200-seat waterfront patio – the largest in HRM. During the cooler months, the fireplace inside adds to the ambiance, where you can enjoy a nice night out with friends and family.

In the fall of 2010, the Canadian Brewing Awards awarded Hart & Thistle with a Silver Medal for World renowned Brewmaster Greg Nash’s Hop Rock Candy Mountain IPA. Check out our Brewers Blog at www.hartandthistle.blogspot.com for his latest hop bomb.

Hart & Thistle - family pictureChef Collin Stone and Chef Sean Kettley have created a menu that offers a Nova Scotian twist and uses local products wherever possible.
