Le Caveau Restaurant at Domaine de Grand Pre Winery has been named one of the top 20 World’s Best Winery Restaurants by Wine Acess Magazine. It is the only Nova Scotia restaurant and one of six Canadian wineries to be recognized. We love the Bay of Fundy and the bounty of lobster, scallops, mussels, smoked salmon and other fresh fish it provides. Our wines and produce are also influenced by the Bay.

Today is the last day to vote for the Eat Atlantic Food Product of the Year and Taste members Just Us! Coffee and Scotian Gold are in the top 10 finalists. Eat Atlantic Top 10 finalists are based on suggestions provided by Atlantic Canadians on the Eat Atlantic Facebook fanpage. The final list was based on a combination of total votes and geographic representation.

Seaport BeerFest


Atlantic Canada’s largest celebration of beer and cider, Halifax Seaport BeerFest, runs August 5 & 6, featuring nearly 200 beers and ciders from the Maritimes and around the world.

Of course great beer deserves great food. Again this year, Taste of Nova Scotia members will be onsite selling delicious beer-inspired creations.  Scanway Catering/Saege Bistro, FID Resto and Brussels Restaurant & Brasserie  will be at all three sessions serving local food for $3 to $5 .

Nova Scotia Celebrates Food Day Canada

Little Neck  Clams and Indian Point Mussels steamed in Grand Pré L’Acadie Blanc, Applewood-smoked Leg of Gaspereau Valley Lamb, Nova Scotia Sea Bass on a warm garden vegetable salad “Nicoise” as well as Grilled Harpoon-caught Swordfish with organic blueberry salsa are just a few of the menu items featured in the Food Day Canada celebrations in Nova Scotia.

“It must become impossible for any Canadian to ignore the fact that we have extraordinary ingredients and tremendous talent in food production and in the kitchens of our nation,” says Anita Stewart, co-founder and president of Food Day Canada.

Food Day Canada, an annual mid-summer culinary celebration, is the largest national food event in the country. On Saturday, July 30, 2011 the following Taste of Nova Scotia restaurants have created locally-inspired menus for this year’s Food Day Canada celebration: Amherst Shore Country Inn, Blomidon Inn, Chanterelle Country Inn & Cottages, Chives Canadian Bistro, Fid Resto, Fleur de Sel, Le Caveau Restaurant, Normaway Inn,   Ryan Duffy’s and Tempest Restaurant.

DesBarres Manor Inn Names New Chef

Authentic Seacoast Resorts Proprietor Glynn Williams has announced the appointment of Joe MacLellan as the new Executive Chef at the Authentic Seacoast Resorts luxury property DesBarres Manor Inn. A native of Ohio, Nova Scotia, a small village outside of Antigonish, Chef MacLellan returns home after seven years of cooking in leading restaurants across Canada and internationally.
