Snow Crab Cakes with wild blueberry salsa

These Snow Crab Cakes were sampled at the Ottawa Travel & Vacation Show on Saturday – prepared by Chef Michael Howell, recipe was provided by Chef Roland Glauser, Charlotte Lane Café & Gift Shop.

Salsa Ingredients
24 oz  Nova Scotia wild blueberries
2 Lime zest
2 tsp lime juice
1/2 oz fresh ginger
1 tsp curry
4 tsp worchester
2 tsp chinese hot sauce

Put all ingredients in blender and puree very fine. Keep chilled. more…


Nova Scotia Blueberry Mimosa


Last weekend I had Jost Vineyard’s Prost and Ironworks Blueberry liqueur in the house and decided to see how the two would taste together. In the past I have always used Van Dyk’s Blueberry Juice to make Blueberry Mimosas, so it was a bit of an experiment. Three bottles of Prost and two bottles of the blueberry liqueur later, I am happy to say it was indeed a successful combination, and “the drink” of my family’s weekend gathering. Nova Scotia's Premiere Wild Blueberry Festival

From Amherst to Truro, Parrsboro to Tatamagouche, Wentworth Valley to the Stewiacke Valley, communities throughout Central Nova Scotia will celebrate the Wild Blueberry Harvest Festival from August 20, 2010 – September 4, 2010.

Events include live music, theatre, art exhibits, dances, farmers markets, teas, community suppers, pancake breakfasts, baking competitions, bake sales, quilt sales, pie eating contests, a 10km race, golf tournaments, a blueberry mash, exhibitions and more!!!
